Having kids is a very personal decision. For some, they end up being the light of their lives - making every day just that little bit better. But, for others, kids can be more of a chore than anything else, so they don't want them.
And it turns out country star Carly Pearce is pretty staunchly in that second camp. As reported by Taste of Country, she got candid on why she doesn't want kids in response to a fan's comment on social media.
"I don't want children, I'm totally okay with that," she explained in a video posted online. She said that she was super comfortable with her decision - and criticized societal norms of parenthood.
"I think we should normalize people that truly know they don't wanna have kids," she said. "I don't think it should be for everyone just because society tells you."
Of course, she loves kids to a point - after all, who doesn't? "I love children, I love my friends' children, I'm a great aunt... but it was never my dream."
She said that part of the reason she doesn't want kids is so she can focus on her country music career. "My dream was to pursue country music and live on the road," she explained. "And I know that some people do that and they're great at it, but it's never been my dream."

She Also Talked About Her Ex-Husband Wanting Kids
She revealed that her ex-husband Michael Ray had wanted to have kids with her, but, of course, that didn't end up working out.
Carly Pearce also got candid about her divorce with Ray in another video, as we reported. She explained that she "absolutely" would get married again.
"I intend to get married again," she exclaimed. "[I] will never let my past hinder me from doing that again." She also criticized people who were negative toward divorcées: "So what, I was divorced? It was my start-up marriage, and now I get to have the real one!"
She had also previously explained that her first marriage "just wasn't a marriage", and that it wasn't something she'd "signed up for".
