The family of a 22-month-old toddler is speaking out following a terrible accident involving a Crock-Pot. As reported by People, Daelyn Davis was rushed to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville after the incident on Friday, July 17.
Daelyn had managed to get a hold of the Crock-Pot which was sitting on a counter. He reportedly pulled its cord, leading it to splash its contents all over the toddler. He ended up needing to be airlifted from his Somerset, Kentucky home to Nashville to receive treatment.
There, doctors later explained that Daelyn had sustained third-degree burns to 20% of his body. His family has since tried to help him in his recovery on a day-to-day basis.
Abigail Davis recalled the moment she received a phone call about her nephew's condition. "I was like 'What do you mean?'," she recalled. "And [Daelyn's mother] said that he had pulled the cord down on himself."
"Oh my god, I was devsastated, I was heartbroken, like my heart was racing. I couldn't go back to sleep, that's for sure. I was just freaking out."

The Kentucky Family Were Using a Common Appliance to Power the Crock-Pot
And it turns out that Daelyn managed to get a hold of the Crock-Pot because of a common appliance you're likely to have in your home.
Some houses lack power cords, so they employ the use of an extension cord to help make life easier. But that's partly the reason Daelyn ended up receiving the terrible injuries that he did.
Daelyn's mom had been cooking a toast in the appliance whilst it was plugged into an extension cord. "She's cooked it like that multiple times before - I guess my nephew got a hold of it when my sister walked into the other room."
Following his injuries, it looks like he's recovering. Abigail explained, "The past couple of days, he's been up and walking around and drinking on his own." She also shared that "he's not doing so good with the feeding tube, so they're trying to figure that out."
A GoFundMe fundraiser has also been started by Davis to help with the medical bills and Daelyn's recovery - so far, it's raised almost $9,500.
