Chris Anne Affleck, the mom of Hollywood legends Ben and Casey Affleck, has died at the age of 83. As reported by the Hollywood Reporter, she died from pancreatic cancer.
Her family confirmed her passing in a post on an obituary website. There, they described her as someone who vowed to "both see the world and change it." She was a teacher for 35 years, and, after retiring in 2008, became an activist.
They also said that Chris was "always willing to acknowledge that she might be wrong and never letting that uncertainty be an excuse for inaction." She spent lots of time travelling around the world after her retirement, aiming to make a difference in the world.
She was described as being "suitably proud" of her children's achievements, but "she was delighted when they questioned, defied, or cleverly engaged authority."
The Hollywood legends' mom was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and given only 6 months to live. She tragically passed away in her sleep on June 2.
However, she did fulfill her last wish following her diagnosis - she saw her grandson graduate high school.
Chris leaves behind her two sons, Ben and Casey, as well as five grandchildren: 20-year-old Violet; 17-year-old Seraphina; and 12-year-old Sam from Ben, and 22-year-old Indiana and 18-year-old Atticus from Casey.

She Got the Hollywood Legends into Acting
Chris was the driving force behind Ben and Casey's Hollywood careers.
She was the one who helped Ben skyrocket into fame - she got him into contact with an old Harvard roommate. Luckily, Patty Collins was a casting director who helped him with his very first auditions in TV movies.
Ben Affleck recalled the moment he won an oscar for Good Will Hunting alongside Matt Damon, where both of their moms were there.
"We were sitting next to our moms and we won, and we kind of hugged our moms. I remember how everyone had made such a big thing out o fit as if this was such a novelty."
"I remember thinking, being insecure, like, 'Why? Why is it weird that we're bringing our moms?' Who else do you think we would bring?"
