Some professions seem safer than others. Being a pole dancer is one of them. But weird things can occur with any profession. Asha Gilbert "ended up soaking her apartment after her pole came loose, knocking into her overhead sprinklers and flooding her apartment," per the New York Post. She had a pole set up in her Houston apartment so she could practice. Great idea, but something went terribly wrong and the pole unexpectedly came crashing down.

Gilbert video-taped the incident with her phone. When the pole detached, it hit a sprinkler on the ceiling. She and her pooch got a soaking they never expected.
Per the outlet, she said, "My main concern was for my dog." The pair were able to exit the premises while firefighters took care of the soggy mess.
Gilbert's Apartment Was Not the Only One Affected
Per ABC7 Eyewitness News, "...Gilbert was filming herself in her living room on July 6 as she followed along to a pole dance workout tutorial." When the pole went rogue and the water began flowing from the sprinkler, she was in panic mode.
"Immediately, I'm in shock because I'm like, 'Oh my gosh, this cannot be happening to me,' Gilbert admitted. In fact, she had just acquired the pole days before. A well-meaning colleague gave it to her. She and a pal set it up. However, it evidently was not properly and securely fastened to the ceiling. Instead, the pole was merely standing upright because of "natural tension between ceiling and floor."
Gilbert never thought anything would happen. Per the outlet, she said, "It wasn't even a thought that it could possibly hit the sprinkler. We were more worried about it hitting a wall."
Her furniture was sopping and apparently unsalvageable. Gilbert also had to relocate to another apartment. Additionally, the apartment below hers had water damage. "I explained everything, and she [the other tenant] was very, very cool and understanding, and I appreciated that," Gilbert shared.
She Wishes Pole Dancing Had a Better Reputation
Asha Gilbert said her profession does not necessarily need to be viewed through an exclusively sexual lens. Per the outlet, she explained, "You have to be very strong, a strong upper body, strong core to be able to do it, and I just wish people understood that it doesn't just have to be sexualized. It can be looked at as a workout and a great workout at that."
After her watery mishap, she said she's stepping away from pole dancing. At least "for now."
