The Broadway star's family launched the GoFundMe campaign to help with funeral expenses and to support Grisetti's wife, Mackenzie.

"Our hearts are profoundly broken by the sudden passing of Josh," Grisetti's family writes. "Josh was a luminous force across Broadway, television, film, and academia, leaving an indelible imprint on the global creative community."

Grisetti was a mainstay on Broadway, appearing in  It Shoulda Been You and Something Rotten!. He also starred in the fifth season of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. The family created the fundraiser after being asked how people could help.

"So many of you have generously asked how you can help support Josh's wife and family during this incredibly difficult time," the description reads. "Born from so many requests, this fund offers a practical way to express your love to Josh's next of kin."

According to the family, donations will be used to help bring the family together for Grisetti's funeral. "Your generosity allows us to focus entirely on grieving and supporting one another rather than navigating administrative strain," the family wrote.

Any excess money will then be donated to the the Entertainment Community Fund in Grisetti's memory. The organization serves as a support network for actors and artists.

"The Entertainment Community Fund serves as a critical safety net for performing arts and entertainment professionals," the family wrote. "Crucially, they provide confidential mental health services, crisis counseling, and support groups tailored specifically to the unique pressures of a life in the arts, helping those facing mental health crises and suicide risk. We are honored to support their mission in Josh's memory."

The family is thankful for the support from fans. Something Rotten! co-star Rob McClure shared that the Broadway actor had died.

"It is with a shattered heart that I share that the brilliant Josh Grisetti took his own life on Friday," McClure wrote. "I'm not ready to even attempt to understand. My heart is with his wife and family as they try to deal with the reality of this."
