Earlier this year, Netflix dropped a revealing documentary about the red-hot artist called Lainey Wilson: Keepin' Country Cool. A fan account showcased a poignant clip from the doc on TikTok that lets us see Lainey Wilson's good nature. Erick, her photographer, had been chatting with some concert-goers while the event was ongoing. He was asked to get some snaps of a mother and her daughter who were present. In fact, Erick discovered that the mom tragically had stage 4 cancer and a limited amount of time left.
Wilson Coincidentally Chose That Child as Her Cowgirl of the Night
At her shows, Wilson likes to select a lucky youngster as her cowgirl of the night. The child gets to come onstage and also receives a chic Western-style hat similar to Wilson's headgear. That evening's cowgirl then says these words. "I am beautiful...I can do anything. I am Cowgirl of the Night!"
For the child, it's a confidence-builder and a sweet, up-close moment with a beloved figure. However, at the time, when Lainey Wilson picked this particular child, she had no idea what was happening regarding her mom's health. Erick shared his pics of the girl and mother with Wilson. She got misty-eyed upon learning of their awful situation.
Per the documentary, their tragic plight really affected her. Wilson said, "Gosh, thinking back on it I'm like, she's not going to have her mama there to tell her that's she's beautiful and smart and talented and all of those things. It's just... ugh."
She Spent Some Meaningful Time With the Pair
The mother and daughter got the chance to visit with Lainey Wilson, whose team pinpointed them in the crowd. She went all-out for the two. "I'm so glad that you got to get up there. I'm so glad you got to get up there, girl. Can I just say a little prayer over y'all tonight?"
Wilson then prayed with them, "Lord Jesus, coming to you right now, Father. And I just pray for peace, just a peace that only comes from You, God. I pray for healing. I pray that you just wrap this family in your loving arms, God. We love you, in Your Holy and precious name I pray. Amen."
