Moments after cashing out his winnings in the World Series of Poker, Griener, a pro poker player from Southern California, was robbed of his earnings by a group of thieves.

Griener said that when he returned to his Las Vegas Airbnb on Sunday night, a crew of thieves was posted outside waiting for him.

The amount of cash stolen from Griener was not revealed, but he recalled the frightening experience on social media.

World Series of Poker Winner Robbed and Hog-tied

"Last night after busting the closer I collected payouts from the summer and drove back to my Airbnb. When I walked in the front door, two men were there waiting, immediately tackled me to the ground and tied me up and took my backpack with my entire roll in it,"

The backpack contained what he described as "literally all" of his money.

"I was hog-tied and stuck there for a while trying to escape and finally got out and ran out of the house to a neighbor to call 911. Luckily, I am physically unharmed. This was the most terrifying and traumatic experience of my life. All my $ is gone,"

Griener believes that the robbers had inside knowledge of his whereabouts. Video footage from his neighbor revealed that the thieves arrived ten minutes before the poker player returned to his Airbnb.

"These people knew the door code to my Airbnb. They were waiting for me inside. Video surveillance from neighbors showed they arrived at the Airbnb 10 minutes before me," he wrote.

Griener said that he escaped the restraints under his own power.

"Took me about 15 min to wriggle out of it," he wrote.

Las Vegas Police Are Investigating the Robbery

The California resident believes he may have been tracked from the casino after winning the World Series of Poker.

"It's likely someone was watching me at @wsop and knew that I was on my way home with cash. Las Vegas detectives are currently investigating," he wrote.

Targeting poker players and gamblers coming home from casinos is a common occurrence. Several players were targeted in the Houston, Texas, area in August. In one instance, a security guard escorted a player through a locked door to the hotel he was staying at.

However, video from the incident shows two men dressed in black attack the man near the hotel elevator, making off with thousands of dollars worth of cash, jewelry, and bags.
