Michael Weatherly Reveals Fresh Details About 'NCIS' Return

Michael Weatherly's return to 'NCIS' is looking to be an amazing time. And he got candid on some details of the show during a recent panel.

Michael Weatherly, who played charming agent Tony DiNozzo for 13 seasons on NCIS, has teased some new details about his return to the show.

In case you missed it, his return to the hit CBS show was announced with a triumphant video on social media. "TONY DINOZZO RETURNS TO NCIS SEASON 24" flashed onto the screen, alongside the classic theme tune.

As reported by TV Insider, he opened up during a Comic Con convention in Birmingham, England. He was appearing at a panel with co-star Cote de Pablo, who played agent Ziva David.

"It's going to be very interesting to see what is revealed and unfurled," he explained in reference to his return to the series. "There is a definite connection between [Tony & Ziva] and the canon that that created within."

Of course, Tony & Ziva was the show that brought the two icons back into the NCIS-verse. Its one-season run confirmed that Ziva didn't fake her death, and the two had moved to Europe to start anew.

But, despite its cancellation, Weatherly confirmed, "there's not going to be retconning of like, 'oh, Tony & Ziva never happened."

The 'NCIS' Icon Kept On Teasing

Of course, it's not Michael Weatherly if he doesn't do a little character acting. We all know DiNozzo's love of tipping the scales a little...

"God, I wish I could tell you one great thing," he teased. I'm sure we'll find out once the show's back up for its landmark 24th season.

"I just know it's going to be an exciting return and sort of back to what Cote was saying, the formula of the original show, with the crime and the investigation and the red herring at the turn of the hour and everyone chasing around and all the interpersonal play - I have really enjoyed watching what the show has done over the last 10 years since I left, but it's a different show now."

He said in a pretty hilarious way, "If I say any more, I'm going to start saying specific things, so I'm going to be quiet."

We can't wait to see just how great this season turns out!
