Country Artist Releases First Recording in 18 Years - "From the Vault"

The country artist revealed his first track in 18 years was found "in the vault". And, in typical country fashion, it's about fishing!

It's always super exciting when we get to hear new stuff from artists - especially country artists.

Randy Travis has released his first original recording in 18 years, as reported by iHeart Country. The 67-year-old country star released "Fish On" on Friday, July 10.

He had wrote the track alongside Ron Avis. In a post on social media, the shock announcement came as a surprise to fans.

It begins, "Happy Catch & Release Day! 'Fish On' is out NOW! Today marks a special milestone as the first of Randy's original recordings released in 18 years, and the first single from an upcoming album of previously unreleased original songs from the vault."

A press release explains that the song brings "his multi-generational, genre-defying, neo-traditional sound back to listeners, singing about his longtime love of fishing."

It continues, "This back-porch toe-tapping country song is perfect for a summer day and is rooted in nostalgia that will continue to bring fans back."

The social media post also reinforces that sense of nostalgia. "We hope this song takes you back to the moments that matter most."

Yes, the Country Song Is About Fishing... and It's Great!

Of course, with all these mentions of fishing throughout the media releases, you might be wondering just how accurate it is... and I have great news for you.

Just take a look at some of these lyrics:

"We're going ocean to ocean and all points in between / Headin' for some waters few have ever seen / Rivers, lakes, streams, or bays, get ready set, we're gone / Any place we can find to wet a line is a good time / Fish on"

Travis explained in a statement that he'd "always loved fishing and country music". He continued, "...being able to share this song so many years later means a great deal to me. There's just no getting over the joy of sharing music with the people who've supported me through the years."

And his country music supporters (me included!) were amazed! One commenter wrote, "Such a great song! I xan't wait to hear the rest, when they come out for the new album. God bless you Randy!", with another writing, "INCREDIBLE!!!! Great song. Awesome to hear your legendary voice again Randy."
