Despite his arrest, the Daphne Police Department has not revealed what led Gillum to cross paths with the law.

"You may recall ... in 2020, Gillum and another man were found dazed and confused inside a room by paramedics at the Mondrian Hotel in South Beach, Florida," TMZ noted. "Another man discovered the two and called 911, worried that the person with Gillum had possibly overdosed."

Following that 911 call, police bodycam footage was later released. On that footage, there were multiple pill bottles dotted around the room. TMZ also noted that police "also removed three small bags of methamphetamine" at the time.

Despite that incident, Gillum, nor the other man involved, was never charged. There was a reported lack of evidence linking them to the drugs, and they were not found on either person. However, that may not be the case this time around, as Gillum now faces potential charges due to his latest arrest.

Andrew Gillum Almost Beat Ron DeSantis

Back in 2018, Gillum came incredibly close to beating Ron DeSantis in the governor's race. Gillum reportedly lost by roughly 3,000 votes, which, given the size of Florida, is a minuscule margin.

"I want to congratulate @RonDeSantisFL on becoming the next Governor of the great state of Florida," Gillum wrote on X as he conceded the race to DeSantis. "My wife R. Jai and I could not be prouder of the way we ran this race. We could not be more thankful to my running mate, @ChrisKingFL and his wife Kristen."

Gillum then continued by thanking everyone involved with his campaign and those who voted for him.

"Most importantly, from the bottom of my heart, I want to thank you for being part of this campaign. I wouldn't be here without the support that was shown by millions of Floridians. I encourage y'all to keep fighting for what we believe in."

Unfortunately, Gillum's life appears to have taken a turn since that moment in time. Hopefully, he can get himself back on track in the coming months and years.
