"I think I want to get under 200 lbs.," Smith said. "So I was like 275 lbs., somewhere in that world. But I want to get down to like 185 lbs. again."

As the interview continued, Smith was questioned about what was motivating him in his weight loss journey. The "Bulletproof" singer noted that being able to perform for his fans has always been a driving factor in his achieving his goals.

"Keeping the energy on stage and making sure I do that, because I think that takes care of the fans," Smith explained. "I just feel better. It's nice to be able to wear clothes that I like."

Smith was also open about the health benefits that come with such a drastic change in body composition.

"I don't sweat anymore, which is amazing," Smith said. "I used to be totally out of breath tying my shoes, and I can jump around a lot more."

Nate Smith Made Some Changes After a Health Scare

Smith's weight loss journey began following a health scare, which took place in 2024. He had been overeating and drinking too much alcohol. By making a string of small changes, that all helped build a significant calorie deficit, Smith dropped close to 50lbs in the first few months.

"I still struggle with some binge eating," Smith admitted during his conversation with PEOPLE. "And if I want to have it, I'm going to have it."

Nevertheless, he's clearly gotten a handle on what it takes to continue shedding the pounds. As such, he should be confident in his ability to reach his goal weight, whatever he decides that's going to be.

"I'm not even close to my goal. But I'm way happier where I'm at, and I feel like better about the way I look."

Losing weight is far from an easy task. Therefore, Smith deserves all the praise that's inevitably going to come his way. The next challenge will be ensuring he keeps the weight off long-term.
