Criminals tend to hide in any place they can worm their way into if they think they can evade detection. There was even one pretty hilarious case where cops swept a vacant apartment lot only to find the would-be burglar holed up in the fridge!
But one case that I'd argue might just take the cake is this. An alleged shoplifter was caught hiding under a TJ Maxx shopping bag. He did this in an attempt to look like a pile of trash in the corner of a room.
As reported by JOE, the absolutely wild incident happened in St. Albans in England. Police were searching for 52-year-old Kenneth Jackson in connection with a failure to appear notice.
He was on the hook in the first place for breaching bail conditions. He was also charged with shop theft from a UK-based department store called The Range.
The wild incident was ultimately captured on bodycam. The video begins with the presiding officer asking a woman if Jackson was inside the house.
They then proceeded to go inside the house to look for the suspect.

The Police Laughed in His Face
Upon walking into what appears to be a bedroom, they come across a crazy sight.
A man appears to be lying underneath a yellow bedsheet with a shopping bag over his head. Yes, you read that right—that's exactly the type of hiding trick he was trying to do.
In a hilarious turn of events, the police officer takes the bag off his head and says, "Hello mate, how are you?" If that's not the most British way of dealing with things I've ever heard...
He even laughs in his face before saying, "Keep your hands where I can see them" and reading him his arrest rights.
Even the social media team for the Hertfordshire Constabulary police took a jab a the man. "When life goes intense... go incognito... but we will still find you," they joked.
In case you're interested, Jackson ended up being fined £120. He was also told to pay court costs of £85, and a £48 victim surcharge. In USD, that comes out to around $338.
