LaRoyce Hawkins is a mainstay in the hit NBC show Chicago P.D. He's been part of the cast for the past 13 seasons. However, according to Deadline, he will now be stepping away from the show. Don't worry, Hawkins will return for the first few episodes of season 14, as he wraps up Kevin Atwater's storyline.

"Chicago P.D. is currently casting a new series regular, a Black cop who is an agent of chaos," Deadline reports. "A rep for Wolf Entertainment, which produces the One Chicago franchise with Universal Television, declined comment."

Hawkins was part of the cast for the premiere episode of Chicago P.D. in 2014. Since then, he's been a consistent member of the show, becoming a genuine fan-favorite in the process.

"As a handsome, honest, and loyal character, fans often discussed Atwater's personal life, with the hopes that he would find someone equally as wonderful to settle down with," Deadline continued. "And while he previously got close, things never got too serious."

Of course, everything changed for Hawkins' character midway through season 13, when he reconnected with Tasha Fox, played by Karen Obilom. The duo, who were strictly friends, have begun to explore a romantic relationship. Of course, in true television fashion, nothing has been straightforward for the couple.

How Will Laroyce Hawkins' Character Leave?

As season 13 progressed, Tasha left for Miami, where she'd landed a new job. While it wasn't stated explicitly, the fact that she left an orange behind for Atwater was enough of a hint that she was open to him coming with her.

Of course, Tasha eventually returned to Chicago P.D. in episode 11 of season 13, pregnant with a child between the two.

Right now, we have no idea how things between the couple are going to progress. Nor do we have any idea of how Atwater's time on the show will come to an end. However, the most logical exit would be for him to follow Tasha to Miami and start a family.

At least that way, the door for Hawkins to return to the show in the future is left ajar.
