As the statement continues, it praises the way Keith approached his life, and the impact he had on others.
"Keith dedicated his life to inspiring others through his professional NFL career, international speaking engagements, his book, and his unwavering commitment to mindfulness, meditation, and yoga," the statement continued.
Sadly, the statement also confirmed that Keith's passing was both sudden and unexpected. As such, the family has requested that their privacy over this matter be respected.
"Keith's passing was sudden and unexpected. As we begin to process this heartbreaking loss, we ask for your continued prayers as we await additional answers in the days ahead. We trust that God will continue to surround our family with His peace, grace, and strength as we navigate this difficult journey."
Keith Mitchell Had a Standout Collegiate Career
Keith spent four years with Texas A&M. He recorded 34 sacks during his time with the program, ranking him fourth on the program's all-time list. Keith also sits joint sixth on the team's all-time single-season sacks list. He recorded 14.5 during his senior year back in 1996.
"The Texas A&M standout also earned All-Southwest Conference honors as a junior in 1995, All-Big 12 honors in 1996 and was named an All-American as a senior," The New York Post reports.
Keith entered the NFL as an undrafted rookie. Concerns over his size reportedly put talent evaluators off. Nevertheless, he signed with the Saints as a free agent, carving out a solid career in the professional ranks.
Currently, there's no information regarding Keith's impending funeral. Those details will likely remain private for family and close friends.
