The run-up to America's 250th birthday is almost over. The big day is nearly here and it's about more than fireworks and backyard barbecues. Hopefully, people of all ages and backgrounds will be more aware than usual of the amazing blessings and freedoms we have in this nation. Although we are a deeply divided country when it comes to politics and ideology, we are still one glorious republic. The players and spectators who have flocked to our shores for the World Cup soccer matches marveled at America. Maybe we should marvel at it as well. That is seemingly what country music singer Chris Janson wants his children to do. He shared with Fox News Digital, "I want my kids to respect the flag and honor our country and be proud of where you come from and be honest and be respectful."

Janson is proving his point. Per the outlet, he teamed up with fellow artist Steven Curtis Chapman for a spirited cover of "America the Beautiful." He affirmed, "I love this country. I've said it so many times, like, we have freedom here like no other place. It's really amazing. So number one is you respect your flag."
He Hopes That His Youngsters Prioritize Honesty and Authenticity
Janson told the outlet, "Truth - even in song - the truth always wins. So if you're just telling the truth you don't have to go back and lie about anything. You don't need to cover up for anything. You don't have to think about it twice. You just tell the truth the first time, whether it's good, bad, or indifferent, the truth is the truth. So those are the things I would like to instill in my kids."
The Singer Learned Early To Respect Our Flag and What It Represents
When Chris Janson was an enthusiastic fourth grader, he says he giddily wrapped the flag around his shoulders superhero-style. That gesture brought a quick scolding from his teacher, Janson had unintentionally allowed the flag to touch the ground. He recalled, "...I was like blown away. I didn't understand this until I was an adult. Until I really understood what freedom meant."
Today, he understands that incident with the maturity of an adult. Janson shared with the outlet, "...[W]e are in a free country and we do have the honor and the privilege provided by our great servicemen and women to have a luxury of freedom, to have luxury to live the American dream and man, that's really important."
