Deceased Newborn Found in Portable Toilet at a Michigan Music Festival

A very grim discovery was made at a music festival in Michigan over the weekend, per Rolling Stone. The body of a newborn was found in a portable toilet at the Electric Forest Festival. The event was held in Rothbury. The young child was found on Sunday, June 28. Per ClickonDetroit, the baby is "believed to be less than four weeks old." It was reportedly found by someone doing maintenance of the porta-potty. The gender of the child was not released.

Michigan State Police Made a Statement Asking for the Public's Help

The Michigan State Police issued a statement on X that was posted on the night of June 28, The post said, "The Michigan State Police continue to investigate the discovery of a deceased neonate found Sunday morning in the camping area at the Electric Forest Festival. Investigators are asking for the public's assistance. If you were in the area and observed anything unusual, or if you have information that you believe may be relevant, we encourage you to come forward. Anyone with information is asked to contact Michigan State Police @ michigan.gov/michtip."

That statement concluded with this request. "We appreciate the public's cooperation and ask that people avoid speculation on social media out of respect for the investigation and those affected."

The Electric Forest Festival Organizers Also Released a Statement Expressing Sadness

Facebook, the Festival organizers sorrowfully wrote the following. "Forest Family, it causes us so much pain to have to share this official news with you. Michigan State Police continues to investigate this tragic event if you can assist in any way. HQ is heartbroken and knows that our Forest Family is as well."

According to the event's web site, dozens of performers were scheduled to take the stage from June 25 to June 28. Among them were Casey Club, Sidepiece, Rio Kosta, Avello, Levity, Cain Culto, and Rochelle Jordan.

A Previous Tragedy Took Place During the Festival Years Ago

Per Rolling Stone, eight years ago, a man reportedly named Kevin Graves vanished from the event. Graves' remains were located many years later, in 2025. Why and how he died was considered "undetermined."
