Despite losing her job, Begley said she does not disagree with the station's decision.
"I'm proving to you that I operate with integrity through my actions and the emails showing how hard I worked to bring positive impact to KPRC," she added. "I wouldn't say it if I couldn't prove it."
Begley said she now hopes to pursue a "bigger role in TV where I can advocate for people like me who started from the ground up."
She also said she wants to champion "authentic reporting" for the community she is "proud to serve."
Many of her followers offered messages of support after the announcement.
"I love the stories you talk about on here and very disappointing at KPRC but I'll keep following you," one Instagram user wrote.
Begley Says She Wanted to Raise Awareness
Earlier this month, Begley sparked widespread attention after posting a lengthy message on Instagram reflecting on her television career and frustration over never receiving one of journalism's highest honors.
"Never won an Emmy because the markets I worked in never thought traffic reporting was worthy of one," she wrote.
She also criticized the demands of the job, saying she had grown "tired of coming home to an empty refrigerator."
Begley further claimed some coworkers would arrive at work "only to turn on the TV and watch a team normalize bad behavior: consistently late, not even mic'd up ten minutes before a show, then put it on air as a segment".
"And I know I'm not alone. A lot of people inside and outside this industry feel exactly like I do," she added.
After the post went viral, Begley clarified that she had not intended to insult her colleagues.
Instead, she said her goal was to raise awareness about mental health and the pressures faced by those working in television news.
Since leaving KPRC-TV, Begley has continued posting regular updates to her more than 22,000 Instagram followers as she looks toward the next chapter of her career.
