The Emmy-winning star, known to soap opera fans as Santa Barbara's Eden Capwell and All My Children's Liza Colby, has been suffering from a mysterious illness, and "financial support is urgently needed."

Is Marcy Walker OK?

Last month, Walker's Santa Barbara co-star A Martinez shared that the 64-year-old had been ill. On the show, he and Walker played the super couple, Cruz Castillo and Eden Capwell.

"Playing that star-crossed couple was a high point in both our lives — and the story of their journey together meant a lot to a lot of people," Martinez shared.

The actor was promoting a livestream with Walker that took place earlier this month to help raise money for her medical costs. The two talked about their time on the show.

He said, "The fact is, Marcy has been ill and is working hard to get well and in the process has come face to face with the financial challenges that so often plague those of us unlucky enough to need medical care in our country."

Why the GoFundMe?

That livestream inspired Walker's other friends, including author Melissa Braverman and Johanna Humphries, to create a fundraiser for the beloved soap opera star.

"Seeing her smile, hearing her reflect on those magical years, and feeling her warmth after so much time away from the spotlight was a beautiful reminder of why we fell in love with her in the first place," wrote Braverman and Humphries. "The immediate outpouring of love, nostalgia, and gratitude from fans all over the world was nothing short of breathtaking."

They added, "But beyond the glamour of the screen and the joy of our recent reunion, life brings real-world challenges. Marcy needs our help."

After a brief appearance on Guiding Light, Walker returned to All My Children. During that time, she also became involved in church work. She then retired from acting in 2005 and served in roles in several youth ministries.

"Daytime fans have always been more than just an audience; we are a family," wrote Braverman and Humphries. "We celebrate together, we remember together, and when one of our own is facing a tough time, we show up."
