The icon confirmed in an Instagram post on Tuesday, June 23 that the surgery was successful.
"I thought you should know that I recently received a kidney transplant from a very kind and generous living donor. It happened a couple of weeks ago, and I'm already starting to feel better. It was, according to my doctors, a complete success," he wrote.
Hall confirmed that he was already on the mend.
"I should be back to normal in a few months, so get ready for more music and lots of Daryl's House shows. You all take care," he wrote.
Country Icon Needed Transplant
Fans sent the country icon well-wishes and prayers for recovery. A person only needs one kidney to live. It sounds like someone was willing to donate one to Hall.
One person wrote, "Glad to hear you are doing well. Bless you and your donor. I hope your recovery is swift. I was feeling a little low and nostalgic the other day and I binged watched everything I could find on YouTube. You always make me feel better. I can relate to health issues at our age I have Parkinson's. Not good for someone who was full of life. Take care D love you always have always will"
Another person wrote, "Sending you love and healing ???? thoughts, Daryl!! We were just kids when we met but it doesn't change the memories that are forever... the good stuff. The laughs and the times when you were a real friend. Beyond some of the crazy drama of that time... ?? ?
You've always been complex and brilliant. Heal swiftly and well, and bless us with some great new music!! Lots of love, Bebe."
For years, Hall has suffered from Lyme disease as well. It's something that he has struggled with. "I have good days and bad days. I was fine for four months then I might have tremors, headaches, fatigue. It's like a roving street gang of germs," he said at the time.
