As a celebrity, I think it's pretty fair to say that you're always going to have haters. Some people just really enjoy trying to get under the skin of others.
But when it's a company doing it - intentional or not - you really have to raise an eyebrow.
T-Pain has found himself on the receiving end of some pretty hilarious (looking in, at least) posts from DoorDash on X. And, according to NewsWeek, the reason behind it is pretty hilarious.
As we're all aware, the World Cup is happening at the moment. It's brought a lot of attention to what I'd argue is an under-appreciated sport in this country. But with that comes companies trying to make themselves as relevant as possible.
That was the case with DoorDash. Their social media manager was live-posting a play by play about the game between New Zealand and Egypt on Saturday June 21 in Vancouver.
And they just kept @ing T-Pain's X account. There seemed to be some confusion - there's a New Zealand defender named Tim Payne.
But they just seemed to keep posting using the @. Some of the wilder ones include, "Egypt has the pyramids. New Zealand has @TPAIN."; "that first touch from @TPAIN should be studied in schools. for real."; and "LET'S GO @TPAIN WITH THE ASSIST. MASTERFUL. I CAN'T BELIEVE IT"

T-Pain Was Less Than Pleased by the DoorDash Stunt
Of course, I'd find it hilarious to see T-Pain sprinting around a soccer field tackling people. But he had a bit more of a serious reaction - at least until he found the funny side of it.
He responded by posting a quote reply to DoorDash, who said that "he" had "gave everything out there tonight". He said, "I literally don't play soccer."
He continued by writing, "Are you all okay??? @DoorDash stop tagging me in these soccer posts," and then, seeing the funny side of it, "The intern is gonna s*** a brick when they realize [laughing crying emoji]."
I think this incident shows one of two things - either T-Pain should get into soccer, or that DoorDash intern should be checking their sources a little more clear.
