The US Senate Just Passed a Bill Honoring the Life of Kyle Busch

After Kyle Busch tragically passed away last month, there has been no shortage of tributes. But this one comes straight from the Capitol.

The nation has been in mourning ever since the tragic death of NASCAR legend Kyle Busch. Since his passing on May 12 from sepsis due to pneumonia complications, there have been lots of tributes from fans and celebs alike.

But now, it's the U.S. Senate's turn to honor Busch for the legend he truly was. According to Whiskey Riff, there's been a bipartisan push to get a resolution through honoring his life and legacy.

The politicians behind the resolution are Senators Tedd Budd (R-N.C.); Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.); Thom Tillis (R-N.C.); and Jacky Rosen (D-Nev.). The two parties worked together to secure a resolution that detailed the life and achievements of Busch.

A press release from the senators' offices details parts of the resolution itself. It includes details of some of his most profound achievements, including 19 consecutive seasons with a NASCAR Cup Series, and the fact that he has won the most across NASCAR's three series.

More specifically, it reads he had "234 career victories, including 63 Cup Series wins, 102 O'Reilly Auto Parts Series wins, and 69 CRAFTSMAN Truck Series wins."

The resolution also champions Brexton Busch as an up-and-coming driver. "He... proudly mentored and coached his son, Brexton, who began his own journey in motorsports, and helped to foster the passion for racing in the next generation."

The Resolution Acknowledges the Family of Kyle Busch

And the resolution itself ends in a pretty heartfelt way. It first acknowledges Kyle Busch's family. "Busch leaves behind his wife, Samantha, his two children, Brexton and Lennix, his parents, and his brother."

But the resolution itself is the most poignant part. It reads, "Now, therefore, be it Resolved, That the Senate— (1); has heard with profound sorrow and deep regret the announcement of the death of Kyle Thomas Busch; and (2); respectfully requests that the Secretary of the Senate communicate this resolution to the House of Representatives."

In non-political jargon, it basically means that the chamber should honor his life. It also means that this motion's been passed down to the lower chamber, making this a whole-government affair if they pass a similar motion, too.

It's really great to see people put aside their political differences to champion one of the greats like this. Good on them!
