Sara Ceccantini, 37, was vacationing with friends when the accident occurred on June 14.
According to reports, the vehicle she was traveling in collided with another car. Ceccantini was rushed to hospital in critical condition but later succumbed to her injuries.
Bride Dies Days Before Wedding Following Greece Crash
Authorities say Ceccantini was one of four passengers inside the vehicle at the time of the collision.
She was seated in the rear of the car when the crash occurred.
Italian outlet Sky TG24 described the impact as "violent," reporting that unofficial sources claim the driver of the other vehicle tested positive during "post-accident checks" and was subsequently arrested by Greek police.
Officials have not yet confirmed those reports, and the exact circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation.
Another woman traveling with Ceccantini was also injured in the collision and remains hospitalized.
Investigators are continuing to examine the events leading up to the fatal crash.
Community Mourns Young Mother and Bride-to-Be
Ceccantini was an Italian citizen who lived in Arezzo, approximately 140 miles northeast of Rome.
She was due to marry her fiancé, Luca Bugialli, on June 20 in Civitella in Val di Chiana, just days after the trip to Greece.
The couple shared a young daughter, who is reported to be around three years old.
"Sara's tragic passing has profoundly affected our entire community," Arezzo mayor Marcello Comanducci said. "A young life cut short too soon, just as she was preparing to experience one of the most beautiful moments of her life. I extend my deepest sympathy to her family, loved ones, and all those who loved her."
News of her death also deeply impacted her workplace. The Prada Group facility in Valvigna, where Ceccantini worked, reportedly closed early as a mark of respect and mourning.
"Sara was a young woman, a respected and appreciated professional," the Municipality of San Giovanni Valdarno said in a statement. "On Saturday, she was supposed to marry Luca Bugialli, whose father has a business on Via Lavagnini in San Giovanni."
"The entire community of San Giovanni Valdarno extends its heartfelt sympathy to Sara's family, her young daughter, Luca, and all their loved ones, sharing a grief that has profoundly affected our region."
Further details are expected as Greek authorities continue their investigation into the fatal crash.
