Pizza Hut has been sold. No, not a single entity of the popular Pizza franchise, but the entire thing. Yum Brands has announced plans to sell the fast food chain for an astonishing $2.7 billion. The sale will end its ownership of the global pizza company.

It's worth noting that the sale will take place in two parts. The first will be for Pizza Hut's operations outside of Mainland China. That sale will see LongRange Capital acquire the business for $1.5 billion. Pizza Hut's business within Mainland China has been sold separately, with Yum China shelling out $1.2 billion, per Dexerto.
"Both transactions are expected to close during the third quarter of 2026, pending regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions," Dexerto reports.
Currently, the sales are still in the process of being completed. However, once official, Pizza Hut will no longer be part of Yum Brands' portfolio. The company owns multiple other global franchises, including KFC and Taco Bell. Yum Brands previously owned Long John Silver's, having purchased the business in 2002, flipping it in 2011.
"Across both deals, Yum expects to receive about $2.3 billion in net proceeds after taxes, transaction-related fees, and closing adjustments," Dexerto reports. "The company also expects to incur roughly $85 million in one-time expenses during the remainder of 2026 as it separates the business."
Yum Brands Has Now Released a Statement Regarding the Sale of Pizza Hut
As you would expect with a sale of this magnitude, Yum Brands has now released a statement.
"These transactions enable Yum! to be a more focused company that continues to leverage scale, technology and talent to accelerate our raising the B.A.R. priorities and deliver sustained value for our stakeholders," Chris Turner, Chief Executive Officer, Yum! Brands said.
Turner then continued by discussing how Pizza Hut will continue to be operated by capable ownership.
"Under LongRange and Yum China, Pizza Hut will be well-positioned for future growth with ownership that brings deep expertise in the restaurant industry. Pizza Hut is one of the most iconic restaurant brands in the world. We are proud of the important role it has played in Yum!'s history."
Fortunately, this sale doesn't project to impact pizza lovers. However, it does show you that Pizza Hut is among the premium names in the fast food industry, and continues to have its eyes set on growth.
