New York Knicks fans have turned on Elmo. The lovable Sesame Street character recently endured the wrath of the fanbase after its X account wished both teams would have fun during the Knicks' playoff series against the San Antonio Spurs.

"Elmo hopes both teams have fun!" the account posted.
This might seem harmless enough. Yet, to a Knicks fanbase devoid of success for over 50 years, it was seen as treason. After all, Elmo is supposed to be from New York. That's where Sesame Street was set throughout its time on air.
So, Knicks fans did what Knicks fans do: they got revenge, and they got it in the most brutal way.
As the fanbase celebrated winning a championship on the Spurs' home floor, some fans put Elmo's head on a spike, with a sign underneath that read "traitor."
New York might be a city full of glitz, glamor and celebrity, but very few icons were as beloved as Elmo. He was part of our childhoods, and a New Yorker to those who hold the city dear.
Unfortunately, it's hard to envision how Elmo comes back from this one. Even a retraction post on X would be too late. Hopefully, he can sit down with Big Bird and figure out a game plan to win over Knicks fans ahead of next season.
The New York Knicks Dominated in the Playoffs
After years of building toward a contending roster, the Knicks have finally added another championship to the rafters. Just one year after making the difficult decision to fire Tom Thibodeau, despite making the Eastern Conference Finals, the Knicks' front office was vindicated in its ruthlessness.
Throughout this postseason run, New York rattled off a 13-game unbeaten streak. They dominated the Eastern Conference, and then they overcame a Spurs team that boasted Victor Wembanyama, who is widely viewed as the future of the league.
The Knicks are now a genuine force in the NBA once again. However, they will face an uphill battle to retain their championship next season. Every other team will be doing whatever it can to bridge the gap.
Fortunately, if the locker room needs some good vibes, Elmo will be on hand to help. All they have to do first is forgive.
