What Specific Macaroni and Cheese is Affected?
The specific affected macaroni and cheese is BEF Foods Inc.'s Park St. Deli Macaroni & Cheese. The product is found exclusively at Aldi. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration revealed that there is a presence of soy lecithin.
Soy lecithin is a food additive and supplement derived from soybeans. It can cause severe allergic reactions in those who are allergic to beans or other legumes.
And, whilst the dish was originally recalled in March, it has been updated to a Class II risk as of June 10. This means that using the "violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences."
How Do I Know if I Am Affected?
The FDA has advised consumers to check the batch codes as follows. If you recently bought macaroni and cheese from this brand, you could well be affected. That's because the recall affects almost 60,000 cases of the stuff.
The information is as follows:
| Product Description | Recall Number | Classification | Code Information |

What Do I Do if My Macaroni and Cheese is Affected?
Well, the first thing to do, especially if you're allergic to soybeans or other beans, is to throw the product away.
Whilst Aldi hasn't given any specific details as to what you should do if you're affected because of this recall, another route of action is to take your item back to the store with a receipt and ask for a refund. Although, there are no official routes for doing so, so whether this is an effective tactic is not fully known.
As far as we know, no one has been injured from this as of yet. Let's hope that stays that way.
