Mane, 59, announced his diagnosis and intention to raise awareness surrounding the type of cancer on social media.
"I have some bad news: I start chemo today. One in 750 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime and I'm one of them," Mane announced in a video posted on his Instagram page.
Tyler Mane Opens Up About Cancer Diagnosis
"Yep. I have breast cancer. And yep, it's super rare. Only 1% of breast cancers are men," the actor added in the post's caption. "I'll be honest, my first reaction was to keep it secret. I mean, it's kind of embarrassing. But then I found out that men are more likely to be diagnosed in advanced stages BECAUSE it's not talked about. And not looked for. In fact, my doctors all dismissed it. It was only because my wife pushed me to get the lump removed that I got in early."
Opposed to battling cancer privately, Mane is inviting others to track his road to recovery. Plus, he is advising that more men get assessed for the rare illness.
"Follow, like, and share, and come along for my journey to kick this thing in the a*s. Send this to 10 of your friends and have them follow me because people need to hear this. F**k cancer!" the former WCW star said.
Mane reprised his role as Sabretooth in Deadpool & Wolverine, which grossed over $1.3 billion worldwide at the box office.
Before his Hollywood transition, Mane blossomed into a WCW star as Blue Sky. Under several different aliases, he also competed in promotions Portland Wrestling and UWF in the United States, New Japan Pro Wrestling and All Japan Pro Wrestling in Japan, and CMLL in Mexico.
