Grammy-Winning Songwriter Found Dead at 35 After Attack

The Grammy-winning songwriter had sustained stab wounds after an attack in east London. His family described him as a "beautiful spirit."

Talay Riley, a multi-platinum Grammy award-winning songwriter, was found dead in London, according to Page Six. He was 35 years old.

London's Metropolitan Police confirmed in a statement that Riley was discovered by police on Friday 5 June, at around 9am local time. He had sustained stab wounds in an attack. He was found in a garden of a property in Silvertown, in east London.

Riley was most well known for his work with legendary artists. He worked with Britney Spears' 2016 hit album "Glory", as well as Dua Lipa's 2016 single "Last Dance."

He also won a Grammy from H.E.R.'s debut album, where he helped work on the song "Lights Out". The album won Best R&B Album at the Grammy Awards in 2019.

Despite efforts from paramedics, the songwriter was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. The police wrote that his family are currently being supported by specialist officers.

His family also released a statement alongside the police confirming his passing. "Mark was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend. He brought love, light ,and joy to our family and to all who knew him."

"We will always cherish his kindness, beautiful spirit, and remarkable talent. His presence touched many lives, and his memory will remain in our hearts forever. May his soul rest in perfect peace."

Tributes Have Poured in for the Grammy-Winning Songwriter

Riley's brother, Michael Orabiyi, also posted a heartbreaking tribute to his late sibling on social media. "My heart is shattered! This doesn't feel real. It feels like a bad dream. Just before he went to sleep we spoke about the future."

He said that Riley "loved deeply, gave freely, and touched countless people through his talent, kindness, and spirit." He finished the post with a heartfelt thank you, and "I love you brother."

Fans have also lamented the loss of the Grammy-winning songwriter on social media. One commentor wrote, "Damn R.i.P, was just blasting his track yesterday." Another commentor wrote, "My heads been spinning all day. Rest in peace homie."

Others mentioned his legendary status as a songwriter. "UK's losing so much talent this year," a commentor wrote.
