Netflix Unveils Scooby-Doo for Live Action Reboot

Scooby-Doo is coming back to our screens with a brand-new show. Netflix recently dropped the trailer on Instagram

Scooby-Doo is coming back to our screens with a brand-new show. The pawsome detective dog has long been a fan-favorite, both via the long-running cartoon and the live-action spin-offs. However, we've never seen Scooby like we're about to, and we got our first look when Netflix recently dropped the official trailer.

Unlike previous shows, Scooby is going to be a member of the live-action cast. The series has a literal puppy in the trailer. Not a cartoon. Nor is it some AI-generated rendition. We're talking a real-life puppy, cute eyes, floppy ears and all.

"During their final summer at camp, old friends Shaggy (Hagen) and Daphne (Grace) get embroiled in a haunting mystery surrounding a lonely lost Great Dane puppy that may have been a witness to a supernatural murder," the logline to the movie reads, via Variety. "Together with the pragmatic and scientific townie, Velma (Fortson), and the strange, but ever so handsome new kid, Freddy (Jenkins), they set out to solve the case that is pulling each of them into a creepy nightmare that threatens to expose all of their secrets."

Netflix knows exactly what it's doing with this movie, too. The caption to their recent Instagram post read "SCOOBY IS FINALLY REAL." Honestly, if the story lives up to past iterations of the cartoon, and Scooby has an internal monologue, this could be the best detective dog flick in history.

'Scooby-Doo: Origins' Has Eight Episodes Ready To Go

According to IMDB Scooby-Doo: Origins has eight episodes in the bank already. Paul Walter Hauser is also listed on the actors list; however, no role has been specified for the Kingdom actor.

The new cast also features some up-and-coming names. Mckenna Grace will play Daphne. Abby Ryder Fortson will assume the role of Velma. Maxwell Jenkins will pay Fred and Tanner Hagen has been cast as Shaggy.

We can assume the puppy in the show is a Great Dane, to ensure symmetry with the original Scooby-Doo.

Netflix has done well with creating compelling television in recent years. As such, there should be high hopes about the upcoming show. And who knows, if it does well, we may be seeing much more of Scooby-Doo in the years to come.
