"'Tell Giles I figured it out and I'm ok.' Well, I don't have it figured out, and I'm not ok," Gellar wrote. "But I know I'm the lucky one because I knew you. Thank you to Daisy and Emily who not only shared their dad with me, but with the world."

As part of the post, Gellar shared four pictures from her time working with Head, who played Giles on the hit 2000s show. Some of the pictures also included Head's two daughters, Daisy and Emily, whom Gellar referenced in the post.

Daisy and Emily also released a statement following their dad's passing.

"It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of our extraordinary father, Anthony Head," the statement said, via The Daily Mail. "He passed away peacefully of complications due to pneumonia, surrounded by his family. It has been, and forever will be, an honor and a privilege to be his daughters, and to have witnessed firsthand the impact both he and his work have had on so many."

'Buffy The Vampire Slayer' Stars Pay Tribute to Anthony Head

Sarah Michelle Gellar wasn't the only former Buffy The Vampire Slayer cast member to pay tribute to Head.

James Marsters, who played Spike on the show, also shared a tribute via his Instagram page.

"There's a hole in the world. Anthony Head has passed on from us," Marsters wrote on Instagram. "He was an unflaggingly kind and steady presence on the set of Buffy, and the best actor in the cast. He was the best of us. I was lucky to have known, and learned from him. He left the world a better place for his presence. Thank you Tony for all you gave."

Clare Kramer, who played Glory, a goddess of a hell dimension, in the show, also posted a farewell to Head on her Instagram page.

"Rest in Peace, Anthony. To know you was a pleasure. To work with you [was] an honor," Kramer posted on Instagram. "Through Giles, you gave us bravery without fearlessness, and compassion without weakness — an exemplary performance (and one of many). My condolences to your girls, family, and all who had the pleasure of loving you. Rest easy, Watcher."

Anthony Head is the third cast member of Buffy to pass away over the last 12 months. Nicholas Brendon, who played Xander, died earlier this year at the age of 54. His death was deemed due to natural causes. Michelle Trachtenberg, who played Dawn Summers, Buffy's sister, died in 2025, aged 29.

Currently, there are no further details regarding Head's impending funeral. That information is expected to remain private.
