Our nation is deeply divided along ideological and political lines. So hearing someone say they became an American citizen because they love this country is truly refreshing and uplifting. Singer and former soap opera star Rick Springfield, a native of Sydney, Australia, is marking twenty years since he became naturalized. He sought American citizenship partly for practical reasons. He shared with People, "Honestly, it was for reasons like if I die first, my wife will be able to make financial or decisions."

However, the "Jessie's Girl" rocker and heartthrob has other, more emotional reasons as well. "My friends are here, my family's here...you know, this is where my life is, and I love this place. I love the country. I mean, honestly I wouldn't have done [it] if I didn't love America."
Springfield Has Big Plans for the Summer
He intends to hit the road soon with Sammy Hagar on Hagar's Best of All Worlds tour. In fact, Rick Springfield, 76, and Sammy Hagar have been best buddies for half a century. Springfield sounds really pumped about the upcoming concerts - eight of them this month, per the outlet.
"I love being on the road and Sammy's a lot of fun on the road and great to hang with, and we've both got great bands and it's just gonna be a rocking and a rolling," he remarked enthusiastically.
Sammy Hagar Concedes He Isn't a Big Fan of Touring
Hagar, however, was quite a bit more hesitant and guarded on the topic. He seemingly finds the traveling, staying in hotels so often, and dealing with luggage and packing pretty tiresome.
He frankly shared per People, "I personally don't like being on the road. I don't care what anyone says. I'm not gonna lie and tell you, 'Oh, I love being on the road.' I don't like being on the road. I love to play music. I like to get on stage and play music, but I don't like going back to a hotel room, packing my bags and getting up and leaving the next day and doing all that stuff. That's what's so great about the residency that I'm about to do. You go there, you park, you stay in one place."
Still, Sammy Hagar puts up with it because he loves grabbing a mic and singing his heart out for the fans. He and Rick Springfield will make a potent twosome on stage.
