The NASCAR driver died on May 21 at the age of 41. Several days later, his family released a statement regarding the cause of his death.
"The medical evaluation provided to the Busch family concluded that severe pneumonia progressed into sepsis, resulting in rapid and overwhelming associated complications," it read.
Many have paid tribute to Kyle in the days and weeks since his death. And now his wife, Samantha, is speaking out.
The Family of Kyle Busch Says "Thank You"
Samantha posted a picture of her, Kyle, and the couple's two children, son Brexton, 11, and daughter Lennix, 4, on her Instagram account. But the message in her caption is enough to bring anyone to tears.
"As a family, we wanted to take a moment to say thank you," Samantha begins.
She adds, "The prayers, messages, flowers, meals, hugs, and countless acts of kindness have carried us through the most heartbreaking days of our lives. While our hearts are absolutely shattered, we have felt God's presence and arms wrapped tightly around us through each and every one of you.
"The love that has surrounded our family during this unimaginable time has brought comfort in the middle of so much pain. Knowing the impact Kyle had on others and seeing how they are honoring him through each unique act of generosity is a true testament to how special Kyle is to so many people. There are moments when the weight of this loss feels impossible to carry, yet time and time again God, through you all, has shown us we are not alone."
Friends and Family Began "Showing Up" For the Busch Family
Samantha concludes her message with more gratitude.
She wrote, "From family and friends to fans and complete strangers, thank you for showing up for us. Thank you for loving our family so well."
She then added, "Thank you for loving Kyle. Thank you for honoring him.
"We may never find the words to fully express what your support has meant to us, but please know that we are deeply grateful."
The message comes several weeks after Samantha and her family appeared at the Coca-Cola 600. Kyle was slated to compete in the race at Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 24.
There was a moving scene during a moment of silence. Owen Larson, the son of NASCAR champion Kyle Larson, walked over to comfort Brexton with a hug. It was a touching moment that was desperately needed after a weekend of grief.
