Type in "Charles Barkley san antonio" into YouTube's search bar, and numerous compilations of the basketball legend commenting on the "big ol' women" in the Spurs' hometown will come up.

"Victoria is definitely a secret down there," he says in one clip. "They be wearing big ol' bloomers down there."

In another clip, Barkley commented on the local cuisine.

"They be woofin' them churros," he remarked. "Those big ol' women be eating them churros."

Gina Ortiz Jones, the mayor of San Antonio, decided Barkley needed to be taken to task for his comments. So she went on ESPN's Inside the NBA to confront him.

The Mayor of San Antonio Gave Charles Barkley a Gift

The 45-year-old Ortiz Jones dug right in to Barkley, giving him a taste of his own medicine.

"I learned a long time ago you can't teach courage, you can't teach class. And Mr. Barkley reminds us of that," she told him.

Shaquille O'Neal chuckled at the remark. He added, "Get him, mayor! Get him!"

Now that he was confronted by a real San Antonio woman, Barkley seemed humbled by the mayor.

"Here I am, so glad to be back in your beautiful city," Barkley said. "I took a walk today, everybody was fantastic. They know I'm just joking around."

To show everyone that the saga between the former Phoenix Suns player and San Antonio was (hopefully) over, Ortiz Jones gave Barkley a delicious gift: a box of churros.

But Barkley Is On a Diet

When giving him the delicious treats, Ortiz Jones commented on Barkley's dramatic weight loss. If you've watched any sporting event over the last year, you are likely aware that he is a spokesperson for the weight-loss company Ro.

"Chuck has lots of thoughts about the churros," she said. "We know he's on a diet, but we know he's not really on a diet. So here are the churros."

Barkley thanked the mayor for the gift and smiled as he took a bite, now aware that he had been proven wrong about San Antonio and its women.
