Honda Recalls Nearly 99,000 Popular Cars Over Dangerous Airbag Defect

Honda has announced that almost 99,000 popular models of their cars are the subject of a recall because of a dangerous airbag defect.

Honda has announced that they are recalling nearly 99,000 of several popular models of their cars. According to People, this comes after a dangerous airbag defect.

A recall notice published by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on May 21 says that the front passenger seat weight sensor could crack and subsequently short-circuit.

This is a problem because of what this sensor does. It checks the size and weight of the person sitting in the seat. If it malfunctions, it could identify a child as an adult and then cause an airbag deployment during a crash.

This could cause serious injuries or even death if the airbag smothers a child.

There Was Another Recent Recall for the Company

This isn't the first Honda recall in recent days. Another similar recall was issued last week. According to MSN, the issue regarding this recall was with the rearview camera system.

The issue is that the camera image may appear distorted or disappear entirely. This causes a safety issue as drivers often rely on these cameras to ensure they don't hit objects when reversing or parking. According to Honda, the issue is apparently caused by the adhesive separating on the camera case.

The recall covers around 60,000 vehicles. These include Honda Prologue and Acura ZDX vehicles.
