Davis is best known for helping shape the careers of global superstars. Those names include the likes of Aretha Franklin, Bruce Springsteen, and Alicia Keys, among many others. The aging executive has dealt with health issues in recent years.
In 2021, Davis postponed his annual pre-Grammy gala following a diagnosis of Bell's palsy. The illness is a temporary issue that causes facial disfiguration due to weakened or paralyzed facial muscles.
According to Page Six, Davis' hospitalization comes just days after he attended the Gordon Parks Foundation Awards Dinner and Auction. The event took place in New York City.
"He's being treated with antibiotics and steroids and will make a full recovery within six to eight weeks, at which point he plans to host the second installment of the virtual pre-Grammy gala," a rep for Davis said, via Billboard.
Of course, there is hope that Davis will make a full recovery and be released from the hospital in the very near future.
Clive Davis Has Held His Pre-Grammy Gala Every Year Since 1976
Davis' annual pre-Grammy Gala has become a staple of the entertainment industry. It's a who's who of the music and entertainment industry. Davis began hosting the galas in 1976, and he's held one every year since.
Nevertheless, the gala is only part of Davis' legacy. He's a four-time Grammy winner and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee in his own right. According to Billboard, Davis is viewed as one of the most influential music executives "in modern music history."
"After entering the music business in the 1960s, he became president of Columbia Records in 1967 at age 35. Over a career spanning more than six decades, he held executive roles at CBS Records, founded Arista Records and J Records, later led RCA Music Group, and most recently held the title of chief creative officer at Sony Music Entertainment," Billboard wrote.
No further details regarding Davis' illness have been released, nor has there been an update on whether his hospital stay will be as short-lived as first hoped.
