New details have continued to surface about Joe Biden's disastrous 2024 debate. The event resulted in the president ending his bid for reelection.

Joe's wife, Jill, has been opening up about the incident thanks to her forthcoming memoir, View From the East Wing. Jill shared excerpts with The Atlantic earlier this week. The memoir features a heartbreaking exchange between Joe and Jill.
"I really f---ed up, didn't I?" he whispered to his wife.
"Yes," she replied. "You did."
The debate was the nail in the coffin for Joe's time as president. Jill said she ended up "witnessing the abrupt end of her husband's bid for reelection." During the debate, Jill said that she thought he may have been having a stroke.
"I was frightened, because I had never ever seen Joe like that before or since. Never," she said. "I don't know what happened."
Joe Biden and the Great Debate
Following the debate, Joe Biden dropped out and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris in her failed bid for election. Jill's current remarks are very different from what she said publicly at the time.
"You did such a great job," she told Joe after the event. "You answered every question - you knew all the facts."
Meanwhile, after the debate, Joe addressed his fumbles during the event.
"I know I'm not a young man," he said at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds. "I don't walk. As easy as I used to. I don't speak as smoothly as I used to. I don't debate as well as I used to, but I know what I do know: I know how to tell the truth!"
Jill says that she still doesn't understand the debate to this day. She doesn't understand what happened to her husband in those moments in front of the camera.
"Nothing explained what I was seeing," she wrote. "To this day, I still don't know what happened. Why wasn't he making any sense? It was inexplicable to me. I only wish I had the answer."
