On Wednesday, troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol arrested a suspect after discovering approximately 525 pounds of suspected cocaine and 9.3 grams of suspected heroin hidden inside a vehicle.

Authorities credited police dog Gable for the major bust after the K-9 alerted officers to the odor of narcotics during the stop.

Traffic Stop Cocaine Bust Leads to Massive Drug Seizure

The Nebraska State Patrol later praised K-9 Gable's work in a post shared on social media.

"Amazing work today by Troopers and K-9 Gable, who sniffed out 525 pounds of cocaine during a traffic stop on I-80," the agency posted on X.

"The nose knows," the department jokingly added.

The Nebraska State Patrol K9 Division also celebrated the operation online, sharing a photo of Gable sitting proudly beside the drugs.

"Our handler and his PSD had an AMAZING traffic stop today," the department wrote. "PSD Gable assisted in locating approximately 525 lbs of suspected Cocaine. Our handlers and their PSDs will find you."

According to a press release, the incident unfolded around 10:25 AM when troopers stopped an eastbound Nissan Rogue for allegedly following a semi-truck too closely.

The stop occurred near Milford at mile marker 382 along Interstate 80.

During the stop, K-9 Gable alerted handlers to the scent of a controlled substance inside the SUV.

Troopers then searched the vehicle and uncovered the large stash of suspected drugs.

Authorities identified the driver as Gurarppan Gill, 23, from Yuba City.

Gill now faces charges including possession of a controlled substance and possession with intent to deliver.

Officials booked the 23-year-old into the Seward County Jail.

The bust follows several other major drug seizures across the United States in recent months.

Last month, a Florida Highway Patrol K-9 helped troopers uncover roughly 2,000 pounds of marijuana hidden inside an RV during a traffic stop, according to Fox 35 Orlando.

Meanwhile, in August 2025, the United States Coast Guard carried out the largest drug seizure operation in its history when the Cutter Hamilton offloaded more than 76,000 pounds of illegal narcotics at Port Everglades.

Authorities said the shipment included over 61,000 pounds of cocaine and 14,000 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $473 million.
