The 83-year-old comedian and co-host of the daytime talk show shared the news on the May 26 episode of the show's companion podcast, Behind the Table.

Why Is Joy Behar Leaving "The View"?

Brian Teta, the producer of The View, shared that Behar will be absent from multiple episodes of the show over the coming weeks.

"This is your last podcast for a little bit, because next week you're not going to be here. Are we talking about this?" Teta said.

Behar replied, "Well, they made me bank the weekend shows even though I'm not here. You better tell people why I'm not [going to be on the show]."

The comedian is heading to Europe to perform her stage play, My First Ex-Husband, after its run in New York City.

"I fly to Paris this week, and then I go take the tunnel to London after a week, and I'll be in London a second week doing my play, My First Ex-Husband, at the Boulevard Theatre in the West End," Behar shared. "We have Jackie Hoffman and I [playing] the two American women talking, then we have two British actresses. Doesn't that sound like fun?"

Who Is Filling in for Behar?

Behar will be on The View until tomorrow (Thursday). Teta explained that some replacements are already scheduled during her absence.

"We've already told people that Sheryl Underwood is coming," he said. The Republican comedian, who was on The Talk, a similar CBS talk show canceled in 2024, will cohost for two days.

"Next week we're going to have Kara Swisher, who's very funny, very smart, she'll be great," Teta added.

Permanent cohost Ana Navarro, who is on the show on Mondays and Fridays, will fill in for Behar on some days. Whoopi Goldberg will sit in on Fridays during Behar's absence. The Oscar-winner usually has that day off.

Joked Teta, "I don't think she knows yet, but I'll let her know that she's going to be here."
