Sheron, 69, was reportedly attacked outside his home on May 20. He had been in the hospital in critical condition before he finally succumbed on May 24. His assailant was allegedly Thomas Caleb Butler, 32. He "pleaded not guilty to charges including attempted murder, elder abuse, criminal threats and battery." Now that Kerry Sheron has died, those charges might be upgraded, prosecutors say.

There are still some unanswered questions about the attack. It's uncertain if Butler and Sheron were acquainted with each other. Also apparently not known is what, if anything in particular, led to the fatal incident.

"Catastrophic Injuries" Were Allegedly Inflicted on Sheron

What the outlet called "catastrophic injuries" were suffered by Kerry Sheron. Actually. the physical harm he received was described by Ross Garcia, the deputy district attorney. "It was a single punch to the jaw. The victim then falls to the floor, and there are subsequent hits to the victim's head area."

Prior to Sheron passing away, his wife, Maria, announced there was "no hope" for his recovery after the alleged assault. The family was reportedly bracing themselves for a tragic outcome as Sheron went quickly downhill medically. Mrs. Sheron also allegedly expressed the opinion that perhaps her husband was beaten because of all the Trump-related items on their home. At this time, there is no proof of that, though.

A GoFundMe Has Been Started
