Rock Band Supports Singer After He Comes Out as Gay

Caleb Shomo's bandmates are supporting him after he came out as gay following a 14-year marriage to Fluer Shomo

Caleb Shomo, the lead singer of Beartooth, recently came out as gay. In a touching show of support, Oshie Bichar, the guitarist for the group, has taken to Instagram to share his support for Caleb. He shared Caleb's original post on the platform with a heart emoji above the message.

"There's been a lot of speculation surrounding my personal life as of late and I feel compelled to set the record straight before it affects those I love any further," Caleb originally wrote. "I am a proudly gay man."

The statement then continued by explaining that Caleb had been struggling to unpack and make sense of his feelings for multiple years.

"This is something I've been unpacking and reckoning with in my life for quite some time now," the statement continued. "It's been difficult to navigate the feelings surrounding the subject and figure out what to do with this fact."

Caleb's original post then continued by detailing the impact hiding his feelings had on his life.

"I spent a decade burying feelings with alcohol, and honestly, when I decided to put it down and focus on exploring why I felt this way for so long, it's been a direct path to me reconciling with my sexuality in hopes that it will eventually lead to my experiencing self-love."

Knowing that his bandmates have his back is likely empowering for Caleb. After all, coming out is never easy, especially after being married for 14 years.

Fleur Shomo Released a Statement After Caleb Shomo Came Out

It isn't just Caleb's bandmates who are supporting him. His wife, Fleur, has also released a statement, sharing her support.

"To see the confusion and pain he went through and the highs and lows and wanting to help but not knowing how," Fleur wrote. "You never want anything more for your person than for them to just be ok."

Fleur is also choosing to remember the good times the couple had together, rather than allowing the situation to bitter those memories.

"Our nearly 14yrs of marriage was wonderful and full of so much fun, adventure & love," she wrote. "Nobody will know anything about our marriage like we do. And no one can ever truly know what depths of love exist between two people unless they are those people. I already miss it & my husband more than anything. Our story was a good one. And now it's done.

With so much love and support around him, Caleb will likely be just fine. As for Beartooth, it would appear that nothing is going to change, as the group have rallied around him.
