Wild Moment Dog Accidentally Shoots Nebraska Woman With Shotgun, Hospitalizes Her

In a wild incident, a dog managed to trigger a shotgun which caused a Nebraska woman to be hospitalized. Police are investigating.

A dog accidentally shot a Nebraska woman with a shotgun at a convenience store. Yes, you read that right. According to KNOP News 2, the incident happened at a convenience store in Scottsbluff on Saturday, May 23.

Police officers from the Scottsbluff Police Department were called to the Short Stop convenience store. They were originally informed that the incident was only involving a BB gun.

However, as they were making their way to the store, the tone shifted. The operators passed along word that the incident involved something much deadlier - a shotgun.

Of course, the police took more caution when they pulled up to the store. When they got there, the scene looked pretty terrifying. A camper attached to a truck had a pretty big hole in it - a shotgun blast.

When the police interviewed the people around the area, the true story came out.

The Dog Had Accidentally Shot Someone

You're probably wondering, 'how does a dog manage to fire a shotgun?' Well, it comes down to an alleged little bit of bad gun safety, and a whole lot of bad luck.

A dog in the back seat of a truck had shifted from one side of the vehicle to the other as its owner pulled into the convenience store parking lot. As it moved, the dog somehow managed to trigger the shotgun.

Not bad on its own, but when the shotgun has live ammunition in it, that's a recipe for disaster. And a disaster it was.

A Woman Was Hospitalized From the Shotgun Blast

Unfortunately, there was a woman stopped at a traffic light near the store's parking lot. Her arm was resting out of the window...

Luckily for her, it didn't seem like her injury was life-threatening. But, of course, as with most people who face shotgun blasts to any area of the body, she was transported by a family member to the Regional West Medical Center for treatment.

The Scottsbluff Police Department are still looking into this matter.

We're glad everyone's okay. This is a truly wild accident, and our thoughts go out to the poor woman who was injured.
