Ten students have been hospitalized after a BMW struck an Everett, Massachusetts, school bus. According to CBS News, the shocking incident happened on Thursday, May 21.

The bus was carrying 11 elementary and middle school students. There was also a bus driver and a supervising monitor on the bus at the time. The BMW ended up rear-ending the school bus.

According to the Everett Public School's Superintendent, Bill Hart, the bus was not at fault. "The bus was making a left-hand turn from Broadway into Langdon Street," he explained.

He continued, "It was legal, it was correct, it was observing all—from what I could see—all appropriate signage when a vehicle on the inside lane of a two-lane main thoroughfare came up on the right-hand side and hit the back end of the bus."

Nine students ended up being sent to the hospital for checkups. Another child was also brought to the hospital by a parent following the incident. Luckily, there have been no major injuries reported. Everyone who was injured in the crash is expected to be okay.

This Comes After Another School Bus Collision

This isn't the first school bus collision in recent days. A similar collision in New York was caused by a distracted driver on their phone. We reported on the incident back when it occurred earlier this month.

The incident occurred right outside a high school senior's house. Jeremiah Rutkowski was walking up to the bus when the shocking accident occurred.

He jumped out of the way—he recalled, "I just figured, like, if that thing's not going to stop, it's either going to hit the bus and something's coming flying at me, or the entire truck is coming flying at me."

Six children ended up being injured due to the speeding pickup truck driver. State Police ended up arresting the man, who was named as 35-year-old Joshua Smith.

They explained in a statement, "The investigating trooper determined Smith was following too closely and was distracted while operating the vehicle." According to WKTV News 2, he was later given traffic tickets for driving while distracted.
