'Days of Our Lives' Star Remembered at Memorial Service

Friends, peers, and loved ones gathered in Santa Monica, California, to honor the soap star, who died last month.

Friends and loved ones paid their final respects to Patrick Muldoon on Friday, May 15.

Those gathered included Sami Sheen, the daughter of Denise Richards, and former NFL quarterback Rodney Peete. The service was held at St Monica's Catholic Church in Santa Monica, California, on Friday.

Patrick Muldoon and Rodney Peete Were Teammates

Muldoon died suddenly on Sunday, April 19, of a heart attack. The Days of Our Lives actor was 57 years old. 

The actor played tight end on the USC Trojans football team with Peete. The two stayed close after leaving the school in the late 1980s. 

"Tough Day saying goodbye to my friend Pat Muldoon!!! He was my Teammate, My Brother, My Friend miss you already brotha," wrote Peete on Instagram. 

Meanwhile, Sami Sheen, the daughter of Muldoon's former girlfriend and his Starship Troopers co-star, Richards, posted an image of the program on her Instagram Stories. As a tribute, a song Muldoon wrote and sang, titled "I Believe," played in the background.

"Miss u so much Patrick," Sheen wrote.

According to the Daily Mail, Muldoon was a constant presence in Sheen's life. He and her mother dated for five years. The two also worked together on Muldoon's last film, titled Dirty Hands

What Was Patrick Muldoon's Cause of Death?

Muldoon's death certificate lists myocardial infarction as the immediate cause of death. This is commonly known as a heart attack. It also confirmed that Muldoon was cremated on Tuesday, April 28.

"The underlying causes included hereditary coagulopathy disorder, a genetic condition that impairs the blood's ability to form clots properly," the report adds.

"Pulmonary embolism was also listed as an underlying cause, which is a blood clot that travels to and blocks a vital artery or the lungs."

In the days after Muldoon's passing, his sister, Shana Muldoon Zappa, shared further details about the events leading up to his death. That morning, he was in his Beverly Hills home drinking coffee with his girlfriend before taking a shower.

Concerned by his absence, Muldoon's girlfriend went to check on him and found him unconscious on the bathroom floor. 

Muldoon rose to prominence for his role as Austin Reed on Days of Our Lives. He starred from 1992 to 1995, then returned to the role from 2011 to 2012. He also played villain Richard Hart on Melrose Place for three seasons.
