Authorities arrested 22-year-old Carsen Richards for allegedly sexually assaulting a 12-year-old with autism. Richards played in the backup band for Chase Matthew. Police waited to arrest the musician until after he played at the BBQ and Barrels festival.

Cops were concerned that Richards may have been armed. According to The Owensboro Times, Richards had access to multiple firearms and was frequently armed. However, he wasn't at the time of his arrest. Police closed in on the stage and grabbed him as soon as he stepped off.

The musician was the bassist for Chase Matthew. Following the arrest, Matthew released a statement about Richards. He officially fired Richards from his band and made it clear that he was not supporting the country musician.

"The situation has honestly been one of the most shocking and heartbreaking things I have ever experienced," he wrote on Instagram. "When I first heard the allegations, I was sick to my stomach. I would never associate myself with a person I think could even be remotely capable of something like this, much less hire them to be on my team."

"The reality is, you don't always know what someone may be doing outside of your workplace, and nothing would have made me believe this was a possibility," he continued. "As of his arrest this past weekend, this individual was immediately removed from the band and is no longer associated with me or my team in any capacity. And I want to be very clear: I do no support or tolerate behavior of this kind whatsoever."

That's the least of Richards concerns. Right now, he was charged with two counts of second-degree sodomy and two counts of incest involving a person under 18. He's also in jail at the Daviess County Detention Center on a $75,000 bond.
