Michael Richards used to barge in on Jerry Seinfeld in nearly every episode of the latter's hit sitcom.

But over the weekend, the actor, who is best known for playing Kramer on Seinfeld, was spotted in public for the first time in two years.
The 'Seinfeld' Star Has Stayed Out of the Spotlight
Richards was photographed on Sunday, May 10, walking in West Hollywood, California. As reported by Page Six, the actor was dressed in a black jacket, dark jeans, and a pair of boots. He appeared to be by himself.
This is the first time Richards has been spotted in public since May 2024. During that month, he attended the premiere of the Netflix film Unfrosted, directed by Seinfeld. He also made other appearances at that time to promote his memoir, Entrances and Exits.
Richards' Book Shares Why He "Canceled Himself"
Richards' book also goes into detail about what happened after he hurled racial slurs at hecklers during a set at the Laugh Factory. The fallout from the 2006 incident led the actor to retreat from the spotlight.
He stated in the book that he chose to "cancel himself."
"I found faith along the way," Richards said. "Faith in creation and how marvelous this system is set up to — well, it's rather merciful in that it allows us to reflect upon our wrongs and move on to get to a better place in oneself, to improve. The state of improvement. I'm fascinated by that. We as human beings can learn from our mistakes."
While the Seinfeld actor's rare public appearance may lead some to believe he's making a comeback, Richards has made it clear he doesn't want to return any time soon.
"I don't have an agent. I don't have reps. You got to be set up for all this," Richards said. "That's just part of the business of having an acting career. I didn't write this book as, 'Oh, I got a comeback, and I'm going to get on another TV show, or I'm going to do some costarring work in films, or I'm going to be on the stage.'
"None of that was on my mind. I just simply wanted to get to my stories and the life I've lived."
