The split of country music star Keith Urban and actress Nicole Kidman left fans shocked and wondering what happened. They had seemed like an ideal pair for so long. They parted ways in September 2025 and wrapped up their divorce in January 2026.

Neither one has really been forthcoming about what their problems might have been. That may be partly because they want to protect their teenage daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 15, from any public fallout. Kidman reportedly has primary custody of the girls, per People, but she and Keith Urban still co-parent them, at least to a degree. Beyond the legal arrangements, however, a source shared with the outlet that both daughters continue to have a relationship with their dad.

According to the unnamed source, "The girls are very close with their mom and also protective of her, They do have a relationship with their dad, too." This person continued, "The family dynamic is much more normal than people assume."
She Maintains a Very Solid Relationship With Her Girls
The Eyes Wide Shut actress definitely gets along with the girls. In fact, for Mother's Day, she posted a sweet pic of her with them on Instagram when they were much younger. Nicole Kidman's post read, "To my beautiful girls, the greatest joy is being your mother. Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers in the world."
(Some commenters were openly critical of the fact that Kidman did not mention the two children, Connor and Isabella, that she and ex-husband Tom Cruise adopted when they were married. However, according to Hello Magazine, Isabella Cruise was actually among those who liked Kidman's post.)

She is not in a hurry to discuss personal matters with the press. When talking to Variety two months ago, Nicole Kidman plainly said, "What I'm grateful for is my family and keeping them as is and moving forward. That's that. Everything else I don't discuss out of respect. I'm staying in a place of, 'We are a family,' and that's what we'll continue to be. My beautiful girls, my darlings, who are suddenly women."
