Would you say beavers are pretty cute, or terrifying? While I've never really had the chance to see one up close, I'd personally say they're pretty darn cute. But, after hearing about this beaver experience, I might have to be a little more critical of the little furry dam-builders...
That's because, as reported by ABC 7, a beaver attack happened in a park in Mahwah, New Jersey. The shocking incident happened on Sunday, May 3, at around 6pm local time.
A video from the incident shows a boy fishing at the shoreline of a body of water. And then, a beaver comes out of the water and charges at him. As the boy tries to run away, he trips, and it proceeds to bite him in the thigh before continuing the savage attack.
But, a member of the child's group helped to defend against the beaver. He kicked it several times until it decided to retreat. However, officials said that it kept circling around the area even after the attack.
The child had to be hospitalized due to the injuries. But, details haven't been released about his condition.

The Beaver Apparently Went After Others
But, this didn't seem to be the first attack this beaver has conducted. Police explained that while they were conducting the investigation, they found that the beaver might have conducted similar guerilla warfare attacks on other park visitors.
The police even received another online video showing the animal attacking another person. Because of this, the Mahwah police had to contact animal control.
Following this, responders from Tyco Animal Control arrived. Sadly, the beaver was showing possible signs of illness. While they never specified what the illness could be, unexplained aggression may be a sign of rabies. The outlet even described the beaver as "rabid".
We truly hope this isn't the case, because that could mean the poor boy's life is in danger. In any case, the animal was captured, and has been sent off for testing.
Although the relevant authorities haven't released more details about the investigation, we hope that everyone involved - including the beaver - is okay.
