The Toll It Took on Riley Green To Film 'Marshals' While Touring

Touring is not an easy thing to do. Just ask any artist who undertakes a multi-city whirl and they will confirm that. It entails rehearsing, traveling, media opportunities, wardrobe readiness, plus other details, some of them unforeseen. Being away from friends and family means not having your usual support network as you navigate all that. It's mentally and physically draining. Now throw in filming episodes of a TV show as well. That was what Riley Green did when he guest-starred on Marshals while he was touring. Not surprisingly, it was grueling for the dashing "Worst Way" singer. Green talked about it quite frankly when he was a guest on The Rick Burgess Show recently.

Things Happened Quickly for Green

Riley Green wanted to do more than "a musical cameo" on the CBS network Yellowstone spinoff. He got the meaty role he hoped for, but it tested his stamina to the max. He shared with Rick Burgess, "I didn't want to just go and make a musical cameo. I didn't want to play myself. If I was going to do it, I wanted to do it. I went and read for the part on a Sunday. They called me the next day (and asked), 'Can you get out to Utah for dress rehearsals?' I was in the middle of a tour."

Happily for the star, he landed the role of Garrett, a former Navy SEAL chum of Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes). So Green had his hands full, to say the least. "We booked two flights a week to Utah. I would fly out on a Sunday and film Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. Fly wherever the bus was on Thursday. Play Thursday, Friday, Saturday. (Fly back to Utah on Sunday). I did that for a month and a half, and it wore me out."

He Would Handle His Schedule Differently if More Acting Roles Come Along

If such an opportunity comes knocking for Riley Green again, he says he would plan things differently. "That was in the part of the year too where we are usually slowing down, you know? Around the holidays. So it was a... I think the next thing I do in that world, I'll make sure I carve out some time from touring to where I can really live in that space for a little while."

Chances are that he will have other offers to act, given the buzz about his stint on Marshals.
