Harley-Davidson issued a massive bike recall

The recall covers 88,039 touring, cruiser, and trike bikes from 2024 to 2026. This includes certain FLTRX, FLHX, 2025-2026 FXBR, FLFB, 2025 FLHXU, 2026 FLTRXL, FLTRT, FLHXL, and FLHLT motorcycles built with an Airbox Baseplate [part number 29000373], according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Due to the design of these models, the breather port could clog, allowing pressure to build up inside the crankcase.

According to the agency, there is a risk of injury if the dipstick is removed while the crankcase is under pressure because oil could be ejected from the fill spout.

Notification letters are expected to be mailed to owners between May 11 and May 20, the NHTSA said.

In an effort to resolve the issue, Harley-Davidson dealerships are offering free inspections for the recalled models. No parts need to be replaced, as dealers will assess and unblock the breather port if needed.

Harley-Davidson estimates 0.4% of the outlined motorcycles are affected by the recall, the report states. As of April 28, Harley-Davidson is aware of one injury related to the recall.

Harley-Davidson Has Issued Two Recalls in 2026

For the popular motorcycle manufacturer, it is the second recall in as many months.

In April, Harley-Davidson issued a recall of 17,000 motorcycles due to an issue with the rear brakes, according to the NHTSA.

According to the agency, the impacted models' rear brake line may come into contact with the body control module (BCM). This could lead to a hole in the brake line, a brake fluid leak, and possibly the loss of the rear brakes.
