A popular chocolate brand has issued a recall for 13 of its products.

The Ghirardelli Chocolate Company warns these products may be contaminated with Salmonella. This risk stems from a larger powdered milk recall issued by California Dairies, Inc., a third-party supplier for Ghirardelli.
What Products Are Included in the Recall?
The Ghirardelli products under recall were meant for sale in bulk to restaurants and other institutions. However, the company urges customers to check their shelves as some beverage mixes may have been purchased online.

What Should You Do if You Have a Recalled Product?
Right now, Ghirardelli says that it or California Dairies, Inc. has not received any reports of anyone affected by the products. It adds that none of the affected beverage mixes have tested positive for Salmonella. The company is recalling the products out of an abundance of caution.
If you have one of the affected products, discard it immediately. Customers are encouraged to call Ghirardelli at 1-844-776-0419 with any questions.
According to the Mayo Clinic, Salmonella is a bacterium that leads to infections. It is caused "by eating raw or undercooked meat, poultry, and eggs or egg products, or by drinking unpasteurized milk."
Salmonella symptoms include diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps, typically appearing within 8 hours to 3 days after exposure.
While it can be life-threatening, most healthy people recover within a few days to a week without seeking medical help.
