For a Taco Bell location in Florida, the consequence for sneaking soda into a water cup is much steeper than expected.

D'Mari Jy'Quan Patterson, 20, allegedly unleashed gunfire on three women trying to score free soda from the fast-food restaurant during his shift. The incident occurred around lunchtime at the Taco Bell on 45th Street in West Palm Beach.
Upon entry, the three women each asked for a complimentary water cup, according to an arrest report. When one of them embarked on a stealthy mission to get soda instead, Patterson allegedly snapped.
After approaching them about the improper use of the water cup, the argument escalated before Patterson was restrained by a fellow employee.
One video obtained by police showed Patterson shouting at the woman who was near the soda fountain, CBS 12 reported. Police said they could hear the first round of shots being fired seconds later.
Patterson Was Arrested After Firing Gun in Taco Bell
There were no fatalities, but one woman was struck by a bullet and collapsed to the floor. Another was nearly shot down, suffering a graze wound, while the other fled the restaurant on foot.
Patterson allegedly pursued the victim, who hurried out of the Taco Bell, chasing her outside before firing another round. The shot missed the victim but struck a restaurant window.
The diners uninvolved in the incident sprinted out the exit while some hid under tables for cover.
According to the arrest report, Patterson returned inside and called 911. The 20-year-old gunman said that a customer leaped behind the register, so he "pulled his weapon out and shot."
Additionally, Patterson told an officer that he believed the victims were armed and that they could "get jiggy," but the report reflected that Patterson's claims of self-defense were not supported by surveillance footage.
The quick-tempered Taco Bell employee was booked into jail on three counts of aggravated assault with a firearm.
Two of the victims are anticipated to fully recover after receiving treatment for minor injuries at a local hospital. The third, who Patterson allegedly attempted to pursue, was unharmed.
